Privacy notice
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This notice explains, in plain English, what personal information Cut & Edge Finder collects, why, who helps us handle it, and what your rights are under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
Cut & Edge Finder (cutandedgefinder.co.uk) is a small, independent UK directory of firms that cut, edge, CNC-machine and spray sheet materials. We aren't owned by, or affiliated with, any supplier listed. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the "controller" of it.
For anything about your data, email [email protected].
What we collect
- Get listed form: your name, business name, email address, phone number (optional), website, the type of request and any details you type in the message box.
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address.
- Emails you send us: whatever you include in the email, plus your email address.
- Location searches: if you search the directory by town or postcode, the place or postcode you typed is sent to postcodes.io so we can work out which suppliers are nearest. We don't keep a record of your searches.
We don't ask for sensitive information, and please don't send us any. Supplier details shown in the directory are business information taken from each firm's own website.
Why we use it
- Listing requests: to add, update or correct a listing, reply to you, and discuss featured listings or sponsorship if you asked about them. We rely on our legitimate interest in running the directory, and on taking steps you've asked for before any agreement.
- Newsletter: to send you The Cut & Edge Brief. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
- Running the website: to deliver pages, keep the site secure and stop abuse. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website.
We never sell your information, share it with suppliers without your say-so, or use it for advertising.
Who helps us handle it
We use a few service providers ("processors") who handle data on our behalf:
- Formspree receives Get listed form submissions and emails them to us.
- Buttondown stores the newsletter mailing list, sends the newsletter and handles unsubscribes.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and routes email sent to our address. Like any web host, it processes technical details such as your IP address when you visit.
- Microsoft (Outlook.com) provides the inbox that email to [email protected], and form submissions, are forwarded to.
- postcodes.io receives the place name or postcode you type into the location search, and returns its map location.
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK, we rely on the safeguards the provider offers for international transfers under UK law.
Cookies and storage on your device
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run analytics that track you across sites. To make repeat searches faster, the directory saves the results of location lookups (the place you searched and its map location) in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device; we can't see it, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data. Our host, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from abuse. If you subscribe to the newsletter or submit a form, Buttondown's or Formspree's own pages may open and use their own cookies.
How long we keep it
- Listing requests and emails: for as long as we need to deal with your request and, if you're listed, while the listing is live. Requests that don't lead to a listing are deleted within 12 months. Formspree keeps a copy of submissions for up to 30 days.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only what's needed to make sure we don't email you again.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your information;
- stop or restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every issue, or by emailing us. To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
Links to other sites
Supplier profiles link to each firm's own website. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for them.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
